Awareness of Fake News and Misinformation by Dadi Dada Foundation

Mumbai, December 06: Dadi Dada Foundation organized a discussion at the Press Club of Mumbai in the presence of experts to create awareness among the elderly to avoid fake news and misleading information. The esteemed guest who had graced the event was Shailesh Mishra (Founder of Silver Innings, Mumbai), Sandip Soparrkar (Bollywood Actor), Kritika Mahajan (Senior Campaigner), and Mahesh Thakkar (General Secretary, FIDC) was present. The event was in collaboration with Verified, a campaign run in association with the United Nations. The event had organized panel discussions on spreading awareness about the spread of misinformation and fake news among the elderly, especially during the coronavirus pandemic.

In the midst of the third wave of the coronavirus pandemic, this program of the Dadi Dada Foundation will be very meaningful in creating awareness about the spread of misinformation and fake news among the elderly. The founder of the Dada Dadi foundation, Muni Shankar, explained the initiatives they had taken at the times of the coronavirus pandemic. He said the elderly section had suffered due to fake news and misinformation. The people of Mumbai know about financial fraud, and the easiest victims of financial fraud are the elderly. Dadi Dada Foundation is working to make the elderly aware by running awareness campaigns continuously across the country.

Dadi dada Foundation has joined hands with Misinformation Combat Alliance and FORCE, intending to stop the spread of misinformation by encouraging people to pause before sharing information about COVID-19 and vaccines.
On this occasion, Sandeep Soparkar said that it is very important that we should first investigate any news, see how old the video or picture is; without verification, any news should not be forwarded.

Shailesh Mishra (Founder, Silver Inning) said that due to misleading information, many people are not being vaccinated against coronavirus today. In such difficult times when we should be most aware, then a large group is circulating misleading information, thus weakening our fight against the deadly virus.

Kritika Mahajan (Verified Campaign) says that it is most important to verify any news or information.

Muni Shankar, the founder and director of Dadi Dada Foundation, says that the mission of our foundation is to alert common citizens, especially senior citizens, from misleading information and fake news. We are constantly working in this direction in collaboration with many organizations. I would like to thank all the guests and panelists for sharing their thoughts and suggestions for a fruitful discussion on the awareness of fake news and misleading information.
