Meet Jigar B Desai, a politician, Vice-Chairman of the Banaskantha District central co-operative Bank and an active social worker

Ahmedabad, Nov 19: Jigar Bhagwanbhai Desai was aware of the perks that the upper-class majority enjoys from an early age, which is why he pledged himself to devote his time to serving people, particularly the farmers of Gujarat’s Banaskantha District. He is currently the vice-chairman of the Banaskantha District Central Co-operative Bank and vice president of the Banaskantha District Bjym Director – APMC Deesa. Jigar Desai, who was only 18 years old at the time, won the Market yard with the most votes in 2012 and became Gujarat’s youngest Director. He was appointed Minister of Youth Front of the Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) in Banaskantha District in the year 2013.

Jigar Desai’s family has been serving the public and farmers for years. Jigar’s grandfather and father were always ready to solve the problems faced by the farmers of Banaskantha district. Jigar’s father passed away in 2011, due to which he understood the responsibilities at a young age and was determined to take care of his father’s work. Jigar Desai is known today as a Young Social Activist in Banaskantha District. The Gujarat government implements farmer-friendly schemes, and Jigar Desai personally visits farmers to explain the benefits of these initiatives. And if a farmer needs a loan to start farming, Jigar promises to assist them as much as possible through his bank.

In the years 2015 and 2017, Gujarat received heavy rainfall. In the Banaskantha district, many were displaced from their homes. Road connectivity became difficult to reach out for food, water, etc. During such a humanitarian crisis, Jigar Desai and a team arranged for food packets, distributed kits along with NDRF and called for helicopters to rescue people. He personally went down to villages to see the conditions of the affected citizens and helped them afterwards.

To understand the agricultural field and farming depth, Jigar Desai has taken training from NABARD – National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development in Sikkim and Shimla. His sheer dedication and hard work made him work towards the benefits of society. From this training, he learnt the difficulties of farming and how one can take measures to develop the rural areas.

In the times of the covid-19 pandemic, a lot of people suffered from it. Blood donation camps were organized by Banaskantha District Youth Front, where Jigar Desai participated. This camp took place at Palanpur and Dhanera in the mid of the second wave of Covid19, intending to alleviate the shortage of blood to the needy patients in the district.

Jigar Desai wishes to continue the social work he has been doing for years. He wants to dedicate his time to the betterment of society and the development of the rural areas of his District. If he got the opportunity, he would like to serve the people of his district by entering the hard-core politics of Gujarat in future.
